Andrew Alanis, APCC

Hello, I am Andrew Alanis. Alongside my work as an Associate Clinician, I find balance by spending time with family and friends—whether it’s working on home improvement projects, playing golf, or weightlifting and enjoying the sun.

My path to becoming a therapist began with a deep appreciation for empathy, understanding, and collaboration. I recognize that mental health progress may not always be linear, and life’s curveballs can sometimes leave us feeling lost. For this reason, I believe in meeting individuals where they are and approaching their experiences with empathy and compassion, creating a space where they can process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a way that fosters empowerment and clarity.

I deepened my commitment to this field by earning an undergraduate degree I psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and furthering my education with a master’s in counseling psychology from Azusa Pacific University, specializing in children and adolescents. My decision to pursue counseling psychology was influenced by my own experience with health anxiety, which deepened my understanding of the profound impact that empathy, compassion, and support can have on a person’s well-being. Through my academic training and hands-on experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, developmental delays, and oppositional behaviors, I developed a therapeutic style that blends compassion with evidence-based practices.

Relationship-building is at the core of my work, and I integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness training, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). With a goal-oriented yet flexible approach, will work together toward meaningful behavioral changes, strengthen emotional regulation, and encourage self-exploration of beliefs and thought patterns. Together, we will explore where you are in your journey, ensuring that therapy feels both meaningful and productive at every step.
